Get Wedding Insurance

Yes, it's a thing.  It's not insurance against one of you getting cold feet. It's insurance to cover things you might not think are even possible, but definitely happen. How much are you spending on your wedding day? Is it more or less than the cost of a car? You insure your car, don't you?

Here are just a few examples of how weddings have been impacted by things the couple could not have foreseen or done anything about:

  • When the Pope visited Philadelphia, many weddings had to be moved. Those weddings had been planned far in advance, and suddenly the couple couldn't have the wedding anymore because no one could get to the venue.
  • Blizzard conditions or hurricanes have caused a State of Emergency to be declared and weddings to be cancelled.
  • The Plaza Hotel in NYC suddenly closed for four years to perform renovations.
  • Venues for rehearsal dinners or even for weddings have had fires which caused the weddings to be cancelled or postponed.
  • Vendors have gone out of business and do not refund their retainers or deposits to customers.

Every one of these things has happened to weddings. None of these things were within the control of the couple. Wedding insurance would have covered every single one of these unfortunate events. Talk to your insurance provider and ask if they offer wedding insurance.
